GTO Tire Rub

 
  The GTO strut rub has been the subject of NHTSA investigation. They found no design defect. GTO owners have found excessive front tire wear and in worse   -- the inner front sidewall rubbing against the spring perch to strut tube weld – STRUT RUB.
 
Strut rub is caused by due to poor control of the upper strut position and   castor changes on braking, cornering, and acceleration. The HD strut mounts, solid   urethane radius bushes locate the strut to OE specification and keep it there under the most aggressive driving conditions.
 

 

The pencil test. A safe strut to tire sidewall clearance factor is the width of   an ordinary pencil. Due to the unique nature of the GTO suspension be sure to discuss this with your alignment professional.
