OEM Nivomat Pedders Ride Height Chart - LX: 300C Charger Challenger and Magnum
Some Chrysler and Dodge LX vehicles came from the factory with Nivomat rear shocks. The Nivomat is a self-contained hydraulic load leveling system. As long as the Nivomats are working they will level the vehicle under passenger or cargo load and keep the negative camber in check. Your or a Pedders Suspension Specialist can determine if your LX has Nivomat rear dampers by measuring the Outer Diameter of the lower rear shock tube. If the OD is over 59mm in diameter your LX is Nivomat equipped.
Nivomat equipped vehicles have a specific coil from the OEM. You cannot convert to a non-Nivomat shock unless the rear coil is changed at the same time. Nivomat equipped LXs can be lowered about 15mm and retain the use of the OEM Nivomat shock. Pedders 2941LX Rear Coil is specifically designed to be compatible with the OEM Nivomat Rear Shock.
The advantage of a Nivomat is load carrying capability. Many enthusiast find the Nivomat to be sluggish in terms of response in aggressive maneuvers. Other prefer to have a lower more aggressive look and the hard core enthusiast wants to lower the Center of Gravity for optimum handling. Pedders can accommodate all LX drivers.
LX vehicles that are not Nivomat equipped and routinely carry a full load of passengers, fill the trunk with cargo or both find their rear tires are wearing on the inner shoulders due to increased negative camber. This has been reported to Pedders by fleet managers and First Responders.
•Five people sitting in an LX will cause the rear cambers to increase 1.5 (New) to 2.5 (20K) degrees depending on the age of the coil.
•Coils are like people, they age with time and use. You could replace your worn OE coils with new OE coils. They will be better, but still light in rate by Pedders standards.
•Even brand new OEM coils will measure 1 to 2 degrees of negative camber with the same load.
• With Pedders 7841coils installed the change in negative camber with identical load is .5 degrees. Your vehicle will ride a bit firmer, but most LX owners actually find the ride to be very close to factory.
To get that load under control and reduce negative camber due to passenger and cargo weight that causes excess tire wear Pedders designed the 7841Heavy Duty LX Rear Coil. The rate is higher than OE while the ride remains OE like comfortable.
7841coils work exceptionally well for more spirited driving on the drag strip or with wheel and tire combinations that are larger and heavier than OE equipment. By controlling squat on hard launches your rear wheels are more square to the pavement. Your HEMI will hook. Combine Pedders EP1172 Sub-Frame Bushes with 7841coils are you are looking at a reliable 2/10 off your ET.
