Foundational Bush Kit Challenger Charger Magnum 300C
A military plane is essentially a platform from which to drop bombs or fire other forms of ordinance. The world's best planes provide the most stable platform for this function. They are renowned for their stability and predictability. A performance vehicle is the same. The world's best are renowned for their stability and predictability. The Chrysler LX arrives from the factory with several foundational instabilities from Pedders perspective. The most glaring are demonstrated in rear-end step-out and excessive bumpsteer. These are followed closely by the large boulevard tuned front control arm and radius rod bushes. These OE bushes suffer from we refer to as bush mush. The OE bushes allow the rear sub-frame to twist under load.
Radius Rod Bush Movement and Failure
Sub-Frame Bush Movement and Failure
There is limited control surface area in the OE sub-frame bushes. In Pedders opinion, the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH )voided OE bushes, combined with limited surface control areas prevent the LX from delivering full satisfaction to the more demanding and discerning driver. The same is true in the front suspension control arm bushes. There is too much motion leading to reduced efficiencies in braking and directional stability. None of these conditions will be observed by those drivers who never exceed the posted speed limits. If you only drive 55 you would not have read this far.
Upgrading the foundational bushes in your LX changes the fundamental nature of your Chrysler. Stability and predictability are significantly improved. The IRS is so planted you'll think you increased your RWHP. Braking is more confident. Most LX owners report that while they can feel the difference in function the cabin comfort is no different than OE. This is due to the street friendly design of Pedders urethane bushes. A properly installed Pedders urethane bush feels OE like. Pedders uses the shape, voids, durometer of urethane and ratio of urethane to metal to improve the handling while preserving the ride quality. Don't take our word of this, take a test drive in a Pedderised LX.
The final element in Pedders LX Foundational Bush Kit is bumpsteer correction. Bumpsteer is measured on the alignment rack incrementally while raising and lowering the vehicle to simulate the motion of driving. The changes in geometry on the OE LX are significant. These changes are felt as instability when the LX is driven in turns aggressively. As in all things suspension, there are many interpretations of what is best. What you see on the Pedders website is our opinion of what is best. That doesn't make it right. It makes us Pedders. By repositioning the LX steering rack Pedders is able to reduce bumpsteer by 3mm bringing the LX into a range that is comparable to some of the finest European performance sedans.
Equipped with a Pedders Foundational Bush Kit your OE LX feels more Mercedes than Chrysler. The upgraded tires and wheels on your LX work better. Your brake upgrade works better. The engine mods feel stronger. The first upgrade for every LX should be a Pedders Foundational Bush Kit. If you have already added other upgrades, now would be the time to increase the ROI on them with a Foundational Bush Kit. Your daily level of SEGs will be increased with every drive. There maybe be other modifications for your LX that provide a greater return than your Pedders Foundational Bush Kit, but we have not found them.
