LX Street XA Kit Challenger Charger Magnum and 300C
The elegant design of the LX suspension is limited by highly compliant rubber bushes. People often ask why Pedders places so much emphasis on bushes before coils, dampers (struts and shocks) or sway bars. The answer is you can't set a fence post in Jell-O and expect a good result. As engineers strive to isolate vehicle occupants from Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) suspension stability is reduced. The OE radius rod bushes and rear sub-frame bushes in your LX are highly compliant creating a numb or vague steering feel as well as significant bumpsteer. These are readily addressed with EP6567 radius arm bushes and an EP2113 Bumpsteer Correction Kit. Many LX owners report a mystery noise in their rear suspension. Some call it a clunk and others a bang or knock. As part of a Pedders 28 Point Inspection we check the "tracks" of the four rear sub-frame bushes that hold the IRS in the chassis. On a lift with a shop light points of contact and wear are indicative of sub-frame bush wear and failure. NVH voiding is the primary suspect. The voids allow the entire sub-frame assembly to move under load at hard launch or at speed over road imperfections. Pedders designed our EP1172 sub-frame connector bushes for the LX with a surface area of 26,580 mm compared to the OE size of 4,284 mm. Pedders sub-frame connectors have 640% more control surface to control rear end step-out, mystery noises and virtually eliminate sub-frame connector bush failure. With only three critical suspension bush upgraded to Pedders street friendly urethane you and your LX are ready for Pedders Xa 46mm high pressure nitrogen charged monotubes that are height adjustable by screwing the entire body into the clevis or lower mount. Adjusting height this way maintains suspension travel as the coil preload has not been changed. With your Xa coilovers installed your LX it will sit 20mm lower in the front and rear with approximately 70mm total drop at the lowest setting based on factory ride heights. There are 30 fixed ratio positive locking damper adjustments. They range from OE soft to R compound tyre hard. Adjustment is dead on accurate. Just count the clicks. Oops I lost my count - no worries mate, zero it out and count again. This is the ideal combination comfort and track control. The ride quality is civil while control is incredibly sharp at 11 front and 9 rear while the ride is R compound tyre ready at 28 front and 26 rear. Since it takes only a few minutes to adjust all four dampers you have the ride you want when you want it. The Pedders urethane radius rod and sub-frame bushes work well with the Xa eXtreme Coilovers. This is more car than most drivers will ever be able to handle. The LX Street XA will deliver dollar for dollar more enjoyment than should be legally allowed. Well maybe it is exactly legal on the streets, but it is welcome on the track in your Mercedes with a HEMI! DO NOT USE AIR GUN ON Xa eXtreme COILOVERS. You should never use an air gun on ANY adjustable damper - EVER! Spinning the damper shaft WILL DAMAGE THE PART AND VOID THE WARRANTY!
