The 2005 S197 Mustang drew more than look from the original pony car. It embodies the heritage of an iconic vehicle in a modern classic.
Pedders is a virtual unknown to most Mustang owners in the USA. That changed when Pedders partnered with Saleen Performance Vehicles to develop Speed Lab suspension components in late 2008. Our new partners demanded race car like handling with OE like comfort. The initial results of the Speed Lab project debuted at SEMA 2009 on the new S281. 46mm monotubes with 6kg front and 4kg rear coils with front camber plates.
It is a niche that Pedders is uniquely qualified to address -- daily driver comfort with close to track ready control. Most Mustangs owners do not convert their cars to dedicated race machines. They do double duty and rarely is the car right for both.
The release of the Speed Lab coilovers at SEMA 2009 was just the beginning. A suspension solution is not a single part number. A suspension solution addresses all the critical areas, all the weaknesses in the chassis to deliver a result that exceeds the sum of the parts. Our work on the S197 is no different. None of us involved in this project would settle for anything less than the original goal -- Race Car like Performance with Street Car Comfort. Saleen, Speed Lab and Pedders are writing new Mustang History.
